  Climate of Nigeria

Climate in Nigeria is tropical wet climate. Due to its geographical location near equator, general climate is wet. Majorly, climate can be divided into 3 seasons. Wet, Dry and Cold. It rains from June - September. Generally the temperature is hot in daytime. With above, 40 Degree Celsius. Nights cools off. In winter months, which are from November -  February. Temperature is generally cold.

Nigeria’s history has huge impact on languages spoken, There are 521 languages that have been spoken in Nigeria; nine of them are now extinct.British colonialism in starting of modern times has gave to English and it is now the official language of Nigeria. English as the official language is widely used for education, business transactions and for official purposes.The major languages spoken in Nigeria represent three major families of languages of Africa: the majority are Niger-Congo languages, such as Igbo, Yoruba and Fulfulde; Kanuri, spoken in the northeast, primarily in Borno and Yobe State, is part of the Nilo-Saharan family; and Hausa is an Afroasiatic language.

People of border districts speak fluent French.The French spoken in Nigeria may be mixed with some native languages but is mostly spoken like the French spoken in Benin. French may also be mixed with English as it is in Cameroon. Most of the population speaks English as their native language.

The major population of Nigeria speak their native Ethnic language. In rural areas, native tribal languages are prevalent,English is very few people speak.Hausa is the most widely spoken of the three main languages spoken in Nigeria itself (Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba) but unlike the Yorubas and Igbos, the Hausas tend not to travel far outside Nigeria itself. English is still considered language of Elite and majorly restricted in urban towns.
